WHAT WE DO

Assessment & Treatment of Problem Behaviors

For individuals with interfering problem behaviors that are negatively impacting their life and/or those of their family, we can help.  We conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments that identify the environmental causes of these problem behaviors and then design individualized behavioral intervention plans that outline effective procedures for preventing these disruptive behaviors through environmental modifications and development of appropriate alternative responses, as well as how to safely respond to more intensive behavioral episodes.

Language/Communication & Skills Assessments (Social Skills, Play Skills, Functional/Life Skills & Vocational)

We use a variety of comprehensive assessment instruments (VB Mapp, ABLLS, AFLS & more) to help identify an individual’s language, social communication and adaptive skill deficits in order to design an appropriate Individualized Treatment Plan.  These plans specifies the specific skill areas that will be addressed (eg. Communication, Social Skills, Daily Living, etc.) and will outline goals that allow the individual to overcome those deficits through specially-created therapy activities designed to train missing or incomplete skill sets.  We can teach children to engage in interactive play or independent leisure skills, teach adolescents to self-regulate when feeling anxious or frustrated, teach communication through various modalities (vocal speech, sign language or augmentative device), or train a young adult to perform various job skills, just to a name a few examples.
